Season 2 of Levi’s and Denim Tears’ ongoing collaboration is coming to a close, furthering their two-year partnership with a concept series.
Levi’s, the world-renowned American jeans brand, continues to conquer new territory with a collaboration with Denim Tears, launching Season 2 just in time for mid-summer.
Continuing its two-year partnership with creative curator Tremaine Emory for a concept collection, new arrivals include the brand’s signature 501 jeans, shirt jackets, canvas totes, “Plantation” hats and more. Featuring white denim and indigo dye, the new collection highlights inspiring textiles and fabrics that reflect the world’s plight in dealing with racism and the enslaved African diaspora – especially in indigo-dyed fabrics with a long history Historic Gullah Geechee people.
To symbolize the harm done to enslaved Africans, Emory artistically placed dyed handprints on the white denim of the collection as a reference to the blue of their hands as they struggled with the material. In addition, bright yellows, mint greens and violets fill the professional jackets and pants in the collection.
Expressing his thoughts on the new descent, Emory shared: “The series presents an astonishing historical perspective, with every character, appearance and scene evoking an autonomous examination of America’s past, present and future. ”
“I have re-contextualized Gullah Geechee’s DNA. The resulting body of work is a distinct alliance centered on the ability to embrace a community’s respective cultures, histories and experiences. Indigo Hands for Gullah Geechee Slaves The Endurance assembles an eclectic talisman. They symbolize a new blueprint for America,” Emery added.
The new Levi’s x Denim Tears Season 2 collection is now available on the brand’s official website and will be available on Levi’s official website on July 28.
