An initial review of Dragon House called it “better than Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad,” and the prequel is coming to HBO Max later this month.

With less than a month to go before the show premieres on HBO Max, the “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” held a preview screening of the pilot episode for members of the media, and initial reviews looked great. Many fans of the original series were skeptical of a new prequel after the anti-climate finale of Game of Thrones, but now it appears that HBO and George R.R. Martin have managed to overcome this problem and create a better series than its predecessor .

Steven Weintraub, editor-in-chief of Collider, said: “I didn’t like the final season of Game of Thrones. Not at all. But I admit that the series premiere of House of the Dragon did a great job and I’ll keep watching,” while Indiewire said It’s “better than GoT and Breaking Bad.” The Wrap’s Brandon Katz wrote: “The House of the Dragon pilot explains its GoT-related background very effectively, introduces its central characters, and showcases the series’ central conflict. It’s an easy-to-understand premiere. Cinematic, with vibrant colors and detailed textures. Definitely a worthy successor so far.”

For those interested, House of the Dragon is coming to HBO Max on August 21st.
