If you have matching nose chains from Kim Kardashian and North West on your 2022 Bingo board, congratulations – I think you just won the competition. Seems like just last week, North West flew in a private jet for her “camp” themed birthday party – no, I don’t mean the Met Gala’s “camp” theme (though that would be more appropriate), but North West’s gothic Summer camp birthday party. When you’re the kids of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, it’s a short road from the front row of bunk beds to the front row of Paris Fashion Week.
North West has been a star in the fashion industry in the past. You may have seen Kanye West’s solo debut with the original song “Those Are, Those Are Clothes” at Kanye West’s Yeezy fashion show in 2021, or flipped through the March 2022 issue of Vogue Photo designed by the Darshan-West family her card. But at just nine years old, North West has become the youngest guest at Paris Haute Couture Week, a full-fledged nepotistic baby socialite. She brought her signature goth style (side note, how cool is it to have that signature style at nine o’clock?!) but her Jean Paul Gautier haute couture was the cake.
When you think of Mom and I, you probably think of matching floral dresses or striped pajama sets, but typically, the Kardashian-Wests do it a little differently. Kim Kardashian and North West arrive at Olivier Rousteing’s couture collection for Jean Paul Gautier, complete with nose chains. The nose chain accessory attaches to their little black sunglasses, giving the illusion of a hardcore nose piercing. Kim Kardashian isn’t like a normal mom, she’s a cool mom — which sparked the “You’re doing great, honey” Kris Jenner meme.
Kim Kardashian and North West both paired their gothic accessories with age-appropriate punk schoolgirls. Northwest wore a pinstriped tank top and skirt with crisp white buttons and a tie. The hem of her skirt fell just above her heavy leather lace-up boots. If Northwestern had any chance of auditioning for a Academy of Rock sequel or a Broadway revival, she would undoubtedly beat any potential competition.
Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian added a little Wonder Woman vibe to her punk look. She wore the same pinstriped fabric as her daughter, but in a curve-fitting midi dress with pectoral pads that seemed to be exposed. Most notably, Kardashian wears a heavy metal collar and matching wrist cuffs – wouldn’t you think she’d be upstaged by a nine-year-old? The real kicker (literally) of the look is Kardashian’s shoes. The multi-faceted reality star wore metal-heeled pointed-toe boots.
I’ll spend money on a fly throughout the preparation for this event.
