Watch the new trailer for Tim Burton’s live-action “Wednesday” Adams series, starring Jenna Ortega and original “The Addams Family” actor Christina Ricci.
Tim Burton unveiled his vision for a live-action Netflix spinoff of The Addams Family on Wednesday. Centered on the character of the same name, the comedy-horror series chronicles Wednesday’s time as a high school student at the spooky Nevermore Academy.
Jenna Ortega starred, while Catherine Zeta-Jones played her mother, Morticia. Other cast members include Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa and more.
Christina Ricci, who played Wednesday in Barry Sonnenfeld’s 1991 Addams Family feature film, will also appear in the series, although her exact role has not been revealed. She will reportedly be playing a new role instead of the old version on Wednesday.
The trailer, which begins Wednesday, confronts a group of bullies who bully her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordones) and retaliate by throwing live piranhas into the school pool during water polo practice. After she was expelled from school for the eighth time in five years, her parents decided to send her to Nevermore Academy.
“You’re going to love Nevermore,” Wednesday’s father told her. “It’s a magical place where I met your mother.”
Nevermore proves to be a far cry from your average high school. At the academy, Wednesday’s challenge is “to master her psychic powers, stop the killing spree of the town’s residents, and unravel the supernatural mysteries that affected her family 25 years ago — all while navigating her new relationship,” the show’s statement said. The log describes it.
