Avril Lavigne’s latest project is a re-dive into fashion design. The Grammy-nominated musician has teamed up with avant-garde ready-to-wear label Killstar for a new collaborative collection inspired by her own punk rock roots.
Aptly titled “Avril Lavigne by Killstar”, Lavigne’s collection includes a range of outfits in black and bubblegum pink. The collection includes a range of pieces including crop tops, underwear, bras, joggers, long-sleeve shirts, bodysuits, pants and a variety of dresses designed to fit into anyone’s wardrobe.
Avril Lavigne starred in Avril Lavigne’s Killstar series. To add a punk vibe, the collection features skeletal ribs and wire mesh prints, as well as two key accessories: a black leather strap with a dangling silver wire mesh-style chain and a similarly textured layered choker necklace. It’s also affordable, with everything retailing for between $16 and $60.
Throughout the collection’s campaign, Lavigne’s shoes have maintained a similar grunge style. In most of the shots, the star wears a pair of black leather combat boots in a lace-up style with a thick sole. Likewise, high boots in a wearable Chelsea silhouette complete her shoe selection.
The “Complicated” singer’s collaboration with Killstar grew out of her own style and personal passion for the brand, which she has worn for years.
“I love Killstar’s clothing because it’s punk and edgy, yet feminine at the same time,” Lavigne said in a statement. “Killstar took my creative vision and brought it to life with really cool tangible pieces. I’m excited to bring this summer collection to my fans with lightweight pieces that still feel edgy.”
Lavigne also took a moment to share her favorite design pieces in a statement.
“I’m really excited about a piece in particular called the Ribcage dress,” Lavigne revealed. “Easy to dress up or dress up for any occasion.”
Killstar’s Avril Lavigne collection, priced from $15 to $60, is available now on Killstar’s website.
For footwear, Lavigne often sticks to edgy styles that match her wardrobe. The “Smile” singer can wear black and white sneakers from Vans, Asics and Converse, as well as ankle and combat boots from Jeffrey Campbell, Wild Diva and Ugg, off work. For more formal occasions, Lavigne wore neutral heels, loafers and sandals by Christian Louboutin, Kurt Geiger, Vivienne Westwood and Giuseppe Zanotti. Lavigne is a designer herself and owns Abbey Dawn, a footwear and accessories brand that has been around since 2008.
