Netflix’s mystery trailer introduces Adam Driver and Don Cheadle in apocalyptic disaster film “White Noise,” based on Don DeLillo’s classic novel.
Netflix has released a trailer for its upcoming Noah Baumbach film adaptation of the classic Don DeLillo novel of the same name.
First published in 1985, the novel gained global attention for dissecting the ways in which modern technology inevitably affects human society. Although three decades have passed since the events of the novel, and technology today is very different from that of the 80s, the concept is still explainable today.
The cryptic trailer introduces Adam Driver’s “Hitler Studies” professor Jack Gladney, who appears to be grappling with life, death, and everyday worries. His wife, Babette, is played by Greta Gerwig, and Don Cheadle as Driver’s colleague, Professor Murray Siskind. As Jack finds a way to be happy in this life of uncertainty, the plot begins with a chemical leak that unleashes a toxic cloud that hangs over its characters and story.
The apocalyptic thriller opens August 31 at the Venice Film Festival and September 30 at the New York Film Festival. Netflix has yet to reveal a release date.
