Netflix cancels live-action Resident Evil series just eight episodes later.
Netflix has reportedly decided not to renew its live-action Resident Evil series for a second season. Effectively canceling the show, the eight-episode series premiered on July 14, loosely based on Capcom’s Resident Evil survival horror game series.
Resident Evil stars Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudon, Adeline Rudolph and Paula Nunes.
Debuting around the same time as the latest season of Stranger Things, Resident Evil garnered 72.7 million viewing hours in its first week on Netflix, ranking second. With 73.3 million hours watched in the second week, it dropped to third place and completely dropped out of the top 10 in the third week. The show has also received fairly negative reviews, with an average review rating of 55% on Rotten Tomatoes and an average viewership rating of 27%, while Metacritic has a reviewer rating of 53 out of 100 and a user rating of 1.4 out of 10.
