The Duffer Brothers, creators of Stranger Things, are set to adapt a live-action Death Note project for Netflix as part of their newest production company, Upside Down Pictures.
Matt and Ross Duffer didn’t reveal much, other than that it will be a live-action TV series based on a Japanese manga and anime. This will mark the second time Netflix has made a live-action Death Note, the first dating back to 2017 starring Nat Wolff, Lakeith Stanfield, Margaret Qualley, Shea Whigham, Paul Nakauchi, Jason Liles and Willem Dafoe.
The Duffer Brothers’ Upside Down Pictures will be “aimed at creating the kind of story that inspires the Duffers to grow up—a story set at a beautiful crossroads where the ordinary meets the extraordinary, where the big looms alongside intimate character work, where heart trumps cynicism.”
