Kate Middleton wore a classic outfit as she thanked volunteers and operations staff in Windsor, England, this morning.

The Princess of Wales wore a Dolce and Gabbana navy coat when she arrived in Windsor with Prince William. The dark wool style has a knee-length hem, long sleeves, and five rows of round metallic gold-tone double-breasted buttons for a formal feel. Completing the royal attire was a sheer black bodysuit and a pair of fine gold and diamond earrings with pearl pendants.

For footwear, Middleton opted for a set of pointed-toe pumps. Her classic silhouette features a versatile black suede upper and triangular pointed toe. Stilettos with a total height of at least 4 inches round out the pair. The duo further streamlined the royal ensemble and harmonized with its classic nature. Coincidentally, they simultaneously proved her ease in wearing the style on cobblestone streets—no easy feat, indeed.

Pointed-toe heels have become the top footwear trend of the year, especially as live events return and more people dress up. The style often simplifies any ensemble through its sleek silhouettes and stilettos—a styling trick Middleton often uses in her own monochrome and two-tone outfits. Neutral or jewel-toned suede and leather uppers are most popular for new styles from Veronica Beard, Schutz and L’Agence.

When it comes to shoes, Middleton often wears pointed-toe heels that have become her style signature, and she regularly sources from Emmy London, Jimmy Choo and Stuart Weitzman. Her go-to style is Gianvito Rossi’s 105 heels, which she owns in five colors. In addition to her royal rotation heels, the Duchess wears affordable sneakers from New Balance, Adidas, Superga and Zara to and from get off work.
