Tim Burton’s ‘Wednesday’ comedy-horror series has set a Netflix premiere date, with the upcoming ‘The Addams Family’ spinoff starring Jenna Ortega.
After sharing the official trailer last month, Tim Burton is back to share the official premiere date of Netflix’s upcoming live-action Addams Family spinoff, Wednesday. The comedy-horror show centered on the protagonist’s high school experience at Nevertown Academy is heading to the streaming giant on Nov. 23.
“Premiering Wednesday, November 23,” Netflix tweeted, alongside the show’s official poster. “Clap clap clap.”

Jenna Ortega plays the eponymous character and Catherine Zeta-Jones plays her mother Morticia. Other cast members include Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Hunter Doohan, Georgie Farmer, Moosa Mostafa and more.
“Wednesday is a teenager now, and we’ve never seen her as a teenager before,” Ortega said of her character in a statement via Variety. “If her snarky, sarcastic remarks come from someone who probably knows better than a 10-year-old girl, those remarks might not sound as glamorous. That’s a balancing act. We don’t want her to sound like all the other 10-year-olds. A girl of a few years old, but we also didn’t want her to be too ignorant. And we’ve never seen her so much on screen.”
Christina Ricci, who portrayed Wednesday in Barry Sonnenfeld’s original 1991 Addams Family film, will also have a role in the upcoming series, though Netflix has yet to share her character abilities. However, the actress will reportedly be playing a new role instead of the adult version of Wednesday.
