It’s official: Rihanna will be the number one performer at the Super Bowl LVII (57) halftime show in February 2023.

While fans have been speculating online for months about who the performers at the 2023 event will be, the Savage X Fenty founder confirmed it via a frosty post on Instagram on Sunday afternoon. The Grammy-winning mogul’s post, which featured her iconic tattooed hand holding an NFL-branded football vertically, garnered more than 3 million likes within hours of going live, simply with a full stop to explain.

Rihanna’s headlines were further cemented by other sports networks, including ESPN, retweeting the same image on social media. The NFL (National Football League) itself has also embraced Rihanna’s makeover, humorously changing its social media profile to “National Fenty League” – a new joke spawned by Rihanna’s Super Bowl league that stems from Her birth name is “Robin Rihanna Fenty”. Labeled with Rihanna and Apple Music.

Rihanna’s appointment as a cast member for the 2023 Super Bowl halftime show has created a huge buzz on social media — especially with celebrities like LeBron James and Halle Bailey. The announcement comes after speculation on Saturday night that Taylor Swift could be the star of the 2023 halftime show. Rihanna turned down a chance in 2019 (which went to Maroon 5, backed by Travis Scott and Big Boi) because of her support for Colin Kaepernick’s viral #TakeAKnee movement. The performance will be her first live performance in five years.

Super Bowl 2023, also known as Super Bowl LVII, marks the 2022 NFL season. The event will be televised by Fox on February 12, 2023 at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The event will be specifically sponsored by Apple Music – replacing Pepsi. It hasn’t been announced who will play the national anthem, or which brands will be advertising during the event — one of the more humorous and viral parts of the program, which has created viral moments for brands like Planet Fitness, T-Mobile and more , Sabra, Hellmann’s and Calvin Klein.

The Super Bowl halftime show is considered the highest honor for a musician to make headlines in their careers, often showcasing multiple of their biggest hits; there has also been a phenomenon in support of musical performances in recent years. Recent halftime shows have featured Mary J. Blige and Dr. Dre, Shakira and Jennifer Lopez, The Weeknd, Maroon 5, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga and Coldplay. Past supporting roles also include 50 Cent, Bad Bunny, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson, Lenny Kravitz, Missy Elliott and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
