Disney+ is rebooting “Eragon” with a live-action series, with original author Christopher Paulini as co-writer.
Twenty years after the original release and 16 years after the feature film adaptation, fantasy fans will be delighted to learn that Eragon is finally rebooting its streaming platform from Disney. According to Variety, the media giant is looking to revive the series with a new reality series that will serve as a reboot rather than building on the 2006 film, which had low ratings, critics said. The reviews were below par, making it a total of only $250 million despite an alleged budget of $100 million.
While little is known about what the Eragon reboot will bring, it’s unlikely the original cast will return to the project, although the story’s author, Christopher Paolini, will serve on the team as a co-author. The American author first self-published the book in 2002 and then republished it in 2003. The story follows the journey of Eragon, a young farm boy who discovers a dragon egg that hatches into Saphira. Thanks to the help of his mentor Brom, Eragon became a dragon rider, and he began to fight against the evil king Galbatoria to liberate the lands of Ala Garcia.
There’s currently no release date for the Disney+ Eragon reboot, so those interested should stay tuned for more updates.
