Netflix has announced a sequel to “Grey Man,” with plans to make the film into an “Extended Universe,” which will star Ryan Gosling as a CIA-trained assassin.
Netflix has bigger plans for its new action thriller, The Grey. Directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo, the film follows a man who is imprisoned and freed on the condition that he serve as an assassin for the CIA.
Ryan Gosling with Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick and Reggie Jean · Page (Regé-Jean Page) co-starred in the role.
The film, which premiered on Netflix just last week, is one of its most expensive projects ever, with a production budget of $200 million. Now Netflix has shared that it plans to make even more investments to turn The Greys into a franchise.
“The audience’s reaction to ‘The Grey’ has been nothing short of phenomenal,” the Russo brothers said in a statement. “We are very grateful for the enthusiasm of fans around the world for this film.”
“With so many amazing characters in the film, we’ve always wanted the Greys to be part of the Extended Universe, and we’re thrilled that Netflix has announced a sequel with Ryan, as well as a second script we’re excited to talk about soon, ‘ they added.
Greys are inspired by Mark Greaney’s best-selling book series. Netflix did not say whether the sequel film will continue to follow the plot from Greaney’s book.
