Dylan O’Brien thought pink on the red carpet for the New York City premiere of “Not Good.” Directed by Quinn Shepard, this satirical black comedy follows a young woman (Zoe Deutsch) who gains fame and social media influence after posing as a survivor of the Paris terror attacks. O’Brien starred alongside Deutch, Mia Isaac and Nadia Alexander in the film, which is now streaming on Hulu.
Arriving at Angelica Film Center, the “Maze Runner” star posed in a pink suit by AMI Alexandre Mattiussi. Paired with a blazer with sharp lapels and slightly loose trousers, the vibrant suit stood out even more when paired with a low-cut black tank top. Completing the cast’s ensemble is a silver David Yurman chain necklace, as well as pink Ray-Ban sunglasses. O’Brien’s looks have been crafted by star stylist Warren Alfie Baker, who in recent months has curated sharp and upbeat wardrobes for actors including Andrew Garfield, Zachary Levi, Diego Boneta and Glen Powell.
Speaking of shoes, Baker completed O’Brien’s outfit with a pair of ’60s-inspired GH Bass loafers. The $145 Larson Super Lug style features a refined black and white leather upper with penny straps and a round toe. A chunky black ribbed sole completes the set, adding a whimsical edge to O’Brien’s outfit while further amplifying the tone of his powerful suit.
Raised-soled loafers like O’Brien’s have become a top men’s shoe trend over the past year because of their subversive take on classic styles. Since then, a range of brands including Christian Louboutin, Duke + Dexter and Aldo have released shoes in a variety of shades, finishes and styles. Monochrome styles are especially popular for their twist on preppy style, like the tonal leather and suede pairs in black, brown and grey from Allen Edmonds’ razor-sharp spring collection. Others, meanwhile, fully embraced the shoe’s rebellious nature, like Blackstock & Weber, whose bold loafers in bright jewel tones and prints ranging from snakeskin to zebra stripes and leopard spots, quickly became popular.
Since O’Brien debuted on MTV’s “Teen Wolf” in early 2010, his footwear style has changed. The actor, who often wears suede lace-up sneakers and vintage boots on the red carpet, has since preferred to wear delicate leather loafers from brands like Dr. Martens. Off work, he’s also known for lace-up soft neutrals and pastel sneakers for Converse, Vans and Saye, among many brands.
