“Rocky” spinoff “Creed” now has its own “Drago” spinoff, and there’s no word yet on Dolph Lundgren’s involvement.
Following the huge success of Sylvester Stallone’s Rocky franchise spinoff Creed, the project now has its own spinoff, also named “Drago.” As its name suggests, the new franchise will center on Victor Drago from Florian Montenu, the son of Loki’s nemesis Ivan Drago.
The character debuted in Creed II, where the main antagonist is Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed, while Rocky veteran Dolph Lundgren reprises his role as the Soviet captain training his son Viktor. The story begins with Ivan Drago’s rivalry with Balboa after he kills Adonis’ father, Apollo Creed, in a boxing match.
Munteanu will apparently be returning to Drago as well as Creed III I, but there’s no word yet on Lundgren or Stallone’s involvement in the title. Robert Lawton was tapped to write the script following his work on Becoming Rocky, a canonical script about making the first Rocky film.
Unfortunately, there’s no release date for Drago yet, so fans of the Rocky universe should stay tuned for more updates.
