Lizzo feels good.
The “Juice” singer, 34, shared a series of photos on Instagram Friday of her turquoise hair, matching eyeshadow and teal bikini. She captioned the post: “Just a reminder, I’m fucking pretty and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
The three-time Grammy winner was instantly likened to a mermaid in her comments section, with one fan writing “gorgeous mermaid” and another adding: “They really should make you Ursue. La, You give all the best mermaid vibes!”
It’s no secret that Lizzo (and many of her fans) want the singer to play the sea witch Ursula in her upcoming reality show “The Little Mermaid,” starring Halle Bailey. Ultimately, the role went to Melissa McCarthy. As Lizzo explained to Variety in February, with her trademark confidence, “Everyone knew I auditioned for Ursula in The Little Mermaid, but I didn’t get it. But you know, I’m fine. .Same as Ursula.” Not relevant, but I’m determined to screw up Ursula and shudder. ”
While Lizzo is all about self-love, she’s previously said to be wary of body-positive labels. She explained to SiriusXM’s The Heat in April that the word only came to her because of the way she lokos.
“I put myself out there, I put myself on a pedestal, I zoom in on myself. I think it was immediately seen as politics,” she said at the time. “So I threw all these terms at me, you know, superimposed on me, body-positive activist, self-love, guru, all those things. I didn’t ask for them.”
Now, however, the Yitty shapewear founder says she sees the word as a positive thing for her.
“Like, why don’t I want to be the positive body? I don’t want to be the negative body. Why don’t I want to be the master of self-love? I don’t want to be the master of ego—hate,” she said. “So, luckily, these just show that I’m on the right path, doing the right things, and that I’m a good person. I resonate with that and I totally accept that.”
