The CW confirms the end of season 9 of The Flash TV series, with Grant Gustin returning as the Scarlet Speeder for the last time in 2023.
Nine years have passed since the CW’s “Flash” TV series originally premiered, and its ninth season has finally come to an end, which is currently scheduled to air in 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show was originally going to wrap up with eight seasons, but the studio eventually managed to sign a new deal with star Grant Gustin, along with a few other cast members, for a final but abbreviated season with 13 more episodes next year.
Last season made The Flash one of the network’s most-watched shows in the 2021-2022 broadcast cycle, averaging more than 1 million viewers per episode, while also being one of the CW’s most digitally streamed series.
“Nine seasons! Nine years of saving Canterlot, taking audiences on an emotional journey full of heart, humor and spectacle. Now Barry Allen has reached the starting gate for his final game,” executive producer and showrunner Eric Wallace said. “So many amazing people have given their talent, time and love to bring this wonderful show to life each week. So as we prepare to commemorate the show’s incredible legacy with an exciting final chapter , I want to thank our outstanding cast, writers, producers and crew over the years for helping make The Flash an unforgettable experience for audiences around the world.”
The ninth and final season of The Flash doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but production will begin next month.
