Bandai Namco is working on a live-action Pac-Man movie based on the classic arcade game.

A live-action film based on the classic arcade game Pac-Man is currently in development by Bandai Namco Entertainment, the original company behind the video game, and Wayfarer Studios, led by Justin Baldoni and Steve Sarowitz. First released in 1980, Pac-Man is a game in which players control a chewing yellow puck that must eat all the points in a maze while avoiding colorful ghosts. The game achieved widespread commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling games of all time, and continues to permeate contemporary culture.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, which first broke the news, the film will be based on “an original brainchild of Lightbeam Entertainment’s Chuck Williams (Sonic the Hedgehog).” Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi and Andrew Calof of Wayfarer Studios will be working on the film along with Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok of Lightbeam.

Stay tuned for more details to arrive in the coming months.
