James Gunn assured fans that ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 is safe on HBO Max after the already-completed ‘Batgirl’ movie was shelved.
James Gunn assuaged Peacemaker fans by reassuring their concerns that the show’s upcoming season will continue on HBO Max.
The director responded to a fan on Twitter who wrote that they were “[b]a bit concerned about the [Warner Bros.] so-called reorganization,” and replied with a photo of John Cena as the titular character and wrote “No need to worry on behalf of #Peacemaker. Our friends will still be at peace in Season 2.”
Fan concerns about canceling several films stem from recent news about the merger of HBO Max and Discovery+, which will go into effect in 2023. This adds Warner Bros. The completed Batgirl movie was recently shelved, with an estimated cost of between $70 million and $90 million. Leslie Grace, who was set to play the titular role, took to Instagram about WB’s decision, “The Querida family! After the recent news about our movie Batgirl, I’m for all of us. The incredible cast and tireless crew are so proud of the love, hard work and intentions that put into this film over seven months in Scotland.” She added: “I’ve been fortunate enough to work with absolute greats, And built a lifelong relationship along the way! To every Batgirl fan – thank you for the love and faith that allowed me to put on the cape and be, as Babs puts it, “My own damn hero! “Batgirl for Life!”
In February 2022, “The Peacemaker” was renewed for a second season after critics and fans alike. A spinoff featuring Viola Davis as her Suicide Squad character Amanda Waller is also in the works.
