Sandman became the most-streamed series on Netflix in its first week, with nearly 70 million hours watched.
Neil Gaiman’s “The Sandman” is now the most-streamed series on Netflix, topping the charts so far in August. According to new figures released by the streaming giant, the long-awaited first season played 69.48 million hours worldwide, topping the list of most-played shows between Aug. 1 and Aug. 7.
This achievement is even more impressive considering that Sandman only launched on August 5, meaning it has amassed nearly 70 million hours of viewing time in just two days.
Based on Gaiman’s dark fantasy comics, Sandman follows Morpheus, the Dream Lord, who along with Fate, Death, Desire, Despair, Delirium, and Destruction forms one of the Seven Endless. Throughout the show, he confronts the many people and places he has affected in his expansive life, hoping to right his wrongs. Netflix describes the series as “a rich blend of modern mythology and dark fantasy, where contemporary novels, historical dramas and legends are seamlessly interwoven.”
Sandman is now available on streaming platforms.
