Vince Gilligan on whether he’ll revisit ‘Breaking Bad’ as ‘Better Call Saul’ wraps up.

With Better Call Saul wrapping up on August 15, creator Vince Gilligan talked about whether he’ll be returning to the Breaking Bad universe.

Gilligan explained in an interview with AMC.com that he may not be returning to Breaking Bad anytime soon, “I’m guessing in my heart that I want to revisit Breaking Bad at some point, but I Think it has to be in a few years. I think I need to prove to myself that I’m not a one-trick pony.”

He also publicly expressed his gratitude to the world of “Breaking Bad,” but admitted that after completing three projects for that world, he wanted to take a step back, “While it’s bittersweet, I want to take a step back from it. Breaking Bad takes a break from calling the Saul/Breaking Bad world because we’ve added three things to the world that I’m very proud of.” He continued, “Obviously we have two shows, We had the El Camino movie and I didn’t want to take any chances. I feel like we’ve done 127 hours of work and I’m incredibly proud to be a part of it. 62 episodes in the first, 63 episodes in the second, and then two hours of film .”

The creator further revealed that he has something new in the works, but fans don’t expect it to be similar to his previous work, “I’ll be launching it soon, it’s different from Breaking Bad and Better Call. Saul, I hope it sells Well done, I hope people like it. You never know, but I’m glad to see it made.”
