Warner Bros. is reportedly considering canceling The Flash outright, after Ezra Miller was arrested for burglary.
After all, Warner Bros. Pictures may be considering canceling the release of The Flash. The media giant originally planned to release the film in 2023, and despite widespread criticism and backlash from fans over the recent controversy and legal clashes surrounding Ezra Miller, reports now suggest that Warner Bros. The actor’s most recent stand was arrested in Vermont for felony theft.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio is currently looking at three possible options for The Flash. It began with Miller seeking professional help with his family in Vermont, culminating in an interview to explain his recent behavior, before a limited press run for the film. In the event that he refuses professional help, option two would see Warner Bros. recast his role in a future DCEU project and prevent Miller from making any news for the film, although it will still be in theaters.
The final option is a worst-case scenario: If things escalate with Miller’s situation, the studio might consider shelving the film entirely, as it did with Batgirl. Warner Bros. has reportedly invested $200 million in the project, so the decision to cancel the project is unprecedented in the industry.
Of course, the company has yet to announce any official decisions, so fans of the DCEU should definitely stay tuned for more updates.
