“Spider-Man: Nowhere” returned to No. 1 on Labor Day weekend as it re-released in theaters with 11 extra minutes of footage.
Nine months after its release, “Spider-Man: No Way Out” returned to the top of the Labor Day weekend box office.
The film reportedly grossed $6 million in 3,935 theaters over the weekend and is expected to make $7.6 million on Monday. The film’s jump to No. 1 is due to the lack of a major release as the summer draws to a close, and the Tom Holland-starring film, which originally premiered last December, was re-released by the studio with 11 minutes of extra footage . That pushed “Homeless” to $812.3 million in domestic gross, making it the third-highest-grossing film in North America.
Meanwhile, Paramount and Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Mavericks came in second with $5.5 million in weekend earnings and are expected to close Monday at $7 million. The film is currently in its 15th weekend in theaters and is still showing at 3,113 venues in total, with a gross of $700.33 million to date.
