Disney debuts the trailer for the live-action The Little Mermaid, set to hit theaters May 26, 2023.

Walt Disney Studios has officially released the first trailer for filmmaker Rob Marshall’s live-action The Little Mermaid. The new trailer shows a stunning underwater scene, with Ariel, played by actress Halle Baile y (adult), pictured wandering various caves and singing Alan Menken’s classic “Part of Your World” verses in.

Bailey’s co-stars David Deggs (Hamilton) voice the brilliant Red Crab Sebastian, Javier Bardem (A Nation Without Old Men) plays King Triton, and Awkwafina (Shang Chi) plays the eccentric Seagull Scartel, Melissa McCarthy (Spy) as main antagonist Ursula. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Platt, Marshall and John DeLuca will co-produce the film, while Alan Mencken, the original composer of the 1989 animation, will return for the upcoming film Create new music.

As King Triton’s youngest daughter, and most defiant, Ariel is eager to learn more about the overseas world , and falls in love with the dashing Prince Eric while visiting the sea. Although mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. She makes a deal with the evil sea witch Ursula, which makes She has a chance to experience life on land, but ultimately her life – and her father’s crown – is in danger.
