Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt lead Hollywood epic “Babylon,” from the directors of “La La Land” and “Whiplash.”
Paramount Pictures debuted “Babylon,” one of the company’s biggest films of the year, directed by “La La Land” and “Whiplash” director Damien Chazelle.
Babylon is described as an original epic before the golden age of Hollywood in the 1920s. During that ecstatic time, Los Angeles was building into a bustling metropolis, and the film industry was transitioning from silent films. “The basic idea was to make a big, epic, multi-role movie set in the early days of Los Angeles and Hollywood, when both of those things got into what we think they are now,” Chazelle told Vanity Fair.
Stills show a star-studded lineup led by Brad Pitt, Margot Robbie and Diego Calva. Tobey Maguire, Jean Smart, Olivia Wilde, Junli Li, Jowan Adebo and Katherine Waterston also made an appearance.
The official synopsis reads: “A tale of ambition and outrageous excess, it traces the rise and fall of multiple characters in an era of unbridled decadence and depravity in early Hollywood.”
Babylon will premiere exclusively in theaters later this year on December 25. Scroll through the stills below, and stay tuned for the trailers to be released in the coming weeks.
