Shortly after the release of Marvel Studios’ Hawkeye, Disney+ confirmed a follow-up series revolving around Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez aka Echo, and now Daredevil’s Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will also return to the show. According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors will reprise their roles as Matt Murdoch/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/King in the upcoming series, though there’s no word on Netflix before News of other Marvel superheroes introduced, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Tekken and The Punisher.
The new series will revolve around Maya Lopez returning home to “reconnect with her Native American roots” after her confrontation with Kingpin in Hawkeye.
This isn’t the first time Cox and D’Onofrio have returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after a Netflix project. Cox had a brief but much-loved cameo in Spider-Man: Nowhere, playing Peter Parker’s lawyer, while Donofrio played the main villain in Hawkeye. Both have expressed a desire to continue their roles and join the wider MCU, and Disney seems to have heard them.
Joining Cox, Donofrio and Cox will return to cast Zahn McClarnon as well as Chaske Spencer, Tantoo Cardinal, Devery Jacobs, Cody Lightning and Graham Greene. Marion Dayre will serve as lead writer and Sydney Freeland and Catriona McKenzie will serve as directors. The Echo doesn’t have a firm release date yet, but it’s expected to be released in 2023.
