For many Marvel fans, the meeting with the mysterious Illuminati was one of Doctor Strange’s most important moments in the Multiverse of Madness, but as it turns out, not a single actor was actually on set during production.
In a recent interview, Black Bolt actor Anson Mount revealed in an interview with Esquire that they had to use other body doubles during filming and edit the footage together to eventually bring everyone together . No, [Patrick Stewart] isn’t actually there! He was filming Picard,” the actor explained.
“It was a really fun shoot because my character was in the remake. As you can imagine, several actors were very busy. Patrick wasn’t there. Chiwetel [Ejiofor] wasn’t there. [John] Krasinski’s contract wasn’t even there yet. Done. He’s not there. We put actors in these characters and they know they’re either going to replace shots or transplant faces. I’ve never done anything like that, and I don’t believe how well it fits together.”
Doctor Strange from the Multiverse of Madness is now available on Disney+.
