Despite confirming the fact that he was passing on Captain America’s shield, Chris Evans felt compelled to remind World City that there was a new captain – Sam Wilson.

The actor responded directly to The Hollywood Reporter’s post on Twitter about Julius Ona directing the upcoming Captain America 4, which read in part: “Anthony Mackie is reprising his longtime Marvel role as Sam Wilson role, but will not portray Wilson’s longtime alter ego and #CaptainAmerica sidekick, The Falcon” and “It’s unclear if Chris Evans will reprise his role as the first #CaptainAmerica (though if anyone has If the issue of the right to carry a shield continues, then all bets are off). At this point, stacking the cast in separate outings is a key element of Marvel.” Evans, who seemed to criticize the tweets for refusing to directly put the Wilson called Captain America fans in tune, writing: “Sam Wilson is Captain America.”

Sam Wilson’s role took over at the end of Avengers: Endgame, with both Steve Rogers and Chris Evans saying goodbye to the role. McKay then starred in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, changing the ending’s title card to Captain America and the Winter Soldier.
