Marvel has now been criticized by a group of VFX artists who had worked at the studio for poor working conditions and underpaid staff.
The comment stream was started by Reddit user Independent-Ad419, who started a post titled “Frankly, I’m sick and tired of working on Marvel shows.” The post goes on to claim that “Marvel probably has the worst production methods and VFX management. They can never fix the look of a show until it’s more than half the show’s allotted time. Artists who work on Marvel shows are definitely not paid the same amount as them. The amount of work put in.”
The post provoked many similar reactions from other VFX artists who also worked for Marvel. Dhruv Govil, who worked on “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming” tweeted: “Working on Marvel shows is what drove me to leave the VFX business. They are a terrible client, I’ve seen Too many colleagues are breaking down from overwork, and Marvel has tightened their wallets.”
User samvfx2015 said: “On Thor, they ask for a full mini-sequence 2 or 3 weeks before the deadline,” while another account called Mickeym00m00 added: “I ask not to be in [Marvel] movies and TV shows. work. Unfortunately, they’re becoming our biggest customer. They’re expecting a variety of options so they can change their minds three more times.”
Marvel and Disney have yet to respond to the comments.
