Desus & Mero won’t be returning for season five, Showtime confirmed after much speculation.
In a statement, the network revealed that hosts Desus Nice and The Kid Mero will part ways to pursue “their creative endeavors moving forward.” The network continued, “Showtime’s late-night talk show Desus & Mero will not be returning for a fifth season. Its final episode airs Thursday, June 23.”
Rumors of the show’s demise peaked last week, when Mero reportedly wrote that their famous podcast (which has been inactive since November 2021) has also ended. “The podcast is done, please enjoy the back catalog of my friends,” commented the co-host. Meanwhile, Desus tweeted to a fan who responded with a screenshot of Mello’s comment, writing: “The Hive deserves a better ending than this. Reddit can defame my name, But when the truth comes out… just wait.”
The show’s fourth and final season has only 15 episodes in total, and Derek Jeter was their last guest. This turned out to be much shorter compared to previous seasons, which only had 45 to 60 episodes.
