Last Monday, Chicago-based mastermind Joe Freshgoods and outfitter New Balance released their highly anticipated “Inside Voices” clothing and footwear collection. Inspired by “the sights, sounds and feelings of growing up in a black family”, the collection features soft, warm color combinations and multiple textures. The series feels like a sequel to the duo’s “Outside Clothes” series, an ode to childhood summer shenanigans: porch hangings, community picnics and visits to grandma’s house.
While the full “Inside Voices” collection was released via Joe Freshgoods’ Instagram last Monday, the “Penny Cookie Pink” 9060 will be released on the New Balance website tomorrow.

Leather, mesh and suede come together in this iteration of the 9060. Named after Mrs. Pure’s famously delicious Funsnax Cookies with Strawberry Frosting, this colorway pays homage to Chicago food with a sweet twist. Beyond that, the soft, muted colors are intentional, a direct reference to adults telling you to “use your inner voice” in someone’s home.
