Exactly one year to the day since the release of Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated Oppenheimer film, Universal Pictures has released the first official movie poster for the Hillian Murphy-directed biopic.
The star-studded film, Nolan’s next epic thriller, tells the life story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the inventor of the atomic bomb. To add to the suspense of the biopic, Oppenheimer’s official poster sees Murphy standing in the middle of a large cloud of ominous smoke, which is shrouded in flames. The poster also mentions the film’s stars, including Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr. and Florence Pugh. The film, written and directed by Christopher Nolan, is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel “American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer of Cadburys and the Late Martin J. Sherwin.
Universal Pictures noted that the film was shot on IMAX 65mm and 65mm large format film in various locations including New Mexico, California and New Jersey. Oppenheimer will make its theatrical debut next year on July 21, 2023.
