When Deciding On Her Red Carpet Look, Keke Palmer Says Marc Jacobs’ Head-to-Toe Look Was ‘Effective’

Keke Palmer made a statement with her head-to-toe Y2K style at the Nope premiere.

The actress, who starred in the Jordan Peele-directed film, wore a white corset top by Marc Jacobs, a low-rise black skirt and chunky black platform Kiki boots on Monday’s red carpet. She completed the look with elbow-length black gloves and hoop earrings.

Palmer, 28, shared a photo of the outfit on Instagram, writing: “This is my runway look.”

The star told Vogue that the look, designed by Wayman and Micah, was perfect for the movie’s red carpet.

“I’ve been a huge fan of Marc and his art over the years, so I jumped at the chance to wear one of his designs at the premiere,” she said. “It made me feel both strong and light, which is hard to do. In the end, the whole look, with my braids, really felt futuristic and classic — which I think fits perfectly with the theme of the Nope premiere and fit movie .”

She added: “I fell in love with it right away. It’s so easy!”

The low-top trend that was popular in the early 2000s is making a comeback, and Palmer is a fan. “Mom always likes to lengthen her torso,” she said. “That’s in God.”

Celebrity styling duo Wayman and Micah told Vogue they wanted Palmer to appear in a very different look from her more “masked” Nope character in the film.

Palmer appeared on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday in a Prada mesh dress, a white tank top and black shorts. Then she wore the neon orange and pink numbers for a late night with Seth Myers on Thursday.

While Palmer has been a red carpet staple for years, she opened up about how she uses makeup to hide acne in a candid Instagram post in 2020.

“Since I showed my acne scars and my battle with acne, I’ve seen a lot of comments following that post because people [are] looking at my makeup coverage and how I can camouflage and hide my scars. I’ve Been dealing with acne and trying to put on makeup and trying to cover it up for a long time. I don’t think there’s anything shameful about it,” she wrote alongside a video showing her makeup routine.
