Before growing into the world’s most valuable luxury brand, Louis Vuitton (PARIS: MC.PA +0.24% ) started out as a small bag and packing store near Place Vendôme in Paris. The brand’s early flat-top canvas steam suitcases allowed travelers to stack luggage, breaking with the traditional dome-shaped design of the time, and the store’s reputation as a producer of quality leather travel goods and wardrobes has steadily grown.

In addition to a custom vanity case for jewelry, champagne, chess and more, Louis Vuitton created its first Mahjong travel case in the 1950s, with an interior satin-lined compartment to hold a full set of 144 games A tile with five extras, four wooden rulers, dice, wind indicator and stick. The streamlined six-drawer box set features natural cowhide leather, rich pine green lining, monogram canvas exterior and gold-tone brass fasteners. The unique carved tiles are made of stone and American walnut and feature LV’s signature floral elements.
